As a first step, the company established a new management unit to oversee the operation of its more than US$3 billion in logistics assets.
The National Petroleum Company (Enap) announced the creation of its new Corporate Logistics Management, a strategic decision aimed at promoting a model that optimizes the company's long-term value and profitability, in line with its Enap 2040 strategic plan.
This area was created with the goal of strengthening and optimizing the comprehensive management of the state-owned company's logistics assets, adapting to current business needs and future opportunities.
Currently, Enap manages logistics assets valued at over US$3 billion, including a large land fleet, 11 ships, 830 kilometers of pipelines, 3 million cubic meters of storage capacity, 5 maritime terminals, 7 land terminals, among other assets that provide resilience and support to the national energy system.
The general manager of the state-owned company, Julio Friedmann, emphasized that expanding and maintaining the company's logistics capacity is a strategic challenge, as well as a financial and operational concern.
“Today, we are Chile's largest logistics company, being able to reach every inch of the country and to connect it with the rest of the world to guarantee the country's fuel supply. Therefore, we believe that this new line of business should represent a significant portion of Enap's future income," he stated.
Among the main areas of focus of this new management are operational excellence, efficiency and profitability of the logistics chain, and the adaptation of infrastructure to meet current and future needs. All this will be achieved through a robust investment plan of US$540 million over the next five years, as well as partnerships with third parties.
The new management unit will be headed by Mauricio Naveas. He is an industrial engineer and MBA graduated from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM). He boasts a broad background in the maritime and mining sectors, both nationally and internationally, and who previously worked as corporate Supply Chain manager at Enap.
This new business line will operationalize the relationship with clients in coordination with the Commercial Management and handle development matters in collaboration with the Development and Planning Management.
