ENAP in Magallanes

In recent years, ENAP has redoubled its efforts to explore new gas fields in Magallanes, achieving success in several blocks, particularly in Dorado-Riquelme and Arenal. In Chile, ENAP conducts exploration and production activities for hydrocarbon deposits only in the Twelfth Region of Magallanes, where it operates gas and oil production in the continental area and Tierra del Fuego Island.

ENAP Magallanes carries out numerous essential activities to support its operations: it has loading ports, an extensive network of oil pipelines, gas pipelines, and multi-product pipelines. It has settlements such as Cerro Sombrero and Cullen on Tierra del Fuego Island, and Posesión and Gregorio on the continent. Additionally, it has workshops, facilities, and warehouses in various locations throughout the region.

Since its inception, ENAP has been a fundamental pillar for the development and growth of the Magallanes Region, creating thousands of jobs that have allowed many men and women, along with their families, to be a significant part of this remarkable history. Among its historical contributions, ENAP Magallanes established a network of thousands of kilometers of roads that have been important for livestock and tourism in the region. ENAP also established schools in Manantiales, Cerro Sombrero, and Cullen, and promoted higher education institutions such as INACAP and the Universidad de Magallanes (formerly UTE). It set up television and telecommunication repeater antennas, created a network of gas pipelines, and supplied gas to Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Porvenir, and rural areas. Currently, ENAP continues to actively promote initiatives for the benefit of the region.

Around 1,100 employees work directly for ENAP Magallanes, and a significant number work indirectly through various contractor companies.

In recent years, ENAP has given renewed impetus to explorations in the region, in search of new commercially exploitable gas reserves to meet the growing demand.

As evidence of this, ENAP will make a historic investment of $649 million in the 2023-2027 period, the highest in recent years in the area, primarily aimed at ensuring the gas supply to the cities in the region.

In addition to ENAP's historical activities, they have focused on exploration, development, and production activities related to the Special Oil Operation Contracts (CEOPs) signed in 2007 and the Tierra del Fuego CEOPs of 2010. In recent years, operations have concentrated on the Arenal, Dorado-Riquelme, and Manzano blocks.

It's worth mentioning that in this new exploratory phase, there is a renewed and special emphasis on new exploratory horizons, seeking so-called unconventional reservoirs that contain Tight Gas.
