Sustainability Strategy

ENAP Holding acknowledges Sustainable Development as one of the four cornerstones of its Strategic Plan, and channels its value proposition to becoming a company integrated with the community and environmentally accountable.

To accomplish its mission, ENAP aims "to be acknowledged as a leader in sustainable development", and to foster corporate management maximizing the creation of economic, social and environmental value.

ENAP has adopted the management approach of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to fulfill the strategic goal of Sustainable Development, which seeks to strengthen inter-relationships with the stakeholders in the areas where it operates in Chile and abroad, under shared guidelines, previously defined and known by everyone involved. To achieve the above, ENAP has established a Policy of Corporate Sustainability that was approved in 2011 by the Committee of Sustainability and submitted for approval of the Board of Directors. This Policy was approved in the Board's session of January 2012.

The policy establishes the framework for the management of Sustainable Development and CSR, based on international standards and certification protocols, through thirteen commitments related to the compliance with legislation, ethical behavior, shared creation of value, occupational health and safety, contribution to society, involvement in the development of the community, client's satisfaction, fair operational and labor practices, the respect to human rights, and safe and socially and environmentally responsible operations, all of which consistent with a preventive and eco-efficiency approach.

Support to External Initiatives

Since 2006, ENAP adheres to the UN Global Compact and its ten principles regarding Human Rights, Labor Practices, Environment, and Anti-Corruption, reporting annually the progress made in the implementation of each principle, through a COP (Communication on Progress). Locally, ENAP is a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Compact Focal Point in Chile and participates actively in its different committees.

In 2011, ENAP joined Acción RSE as an active partner. This is a Chilean business foundation; its mission is to "create awareness and organize the companies to manage their business in a socially responsible manner, supporting their leaders and collaborators to implement the logic of Sustainable Development into their strategy." The vision of Acción RSE is to "contribute to create a Chile that is developed, sustainable, and inclusive with a better society and happier population." In 2012, ENAP becomes part of the Board of Directors of this foundation.
