Bío Bío Refinery

The following are the crude and complementary loads processing plants at the Bío Bío refinery: Topping and Vacuum I, Topping and Vacuum II, Visbreaking, Catalytic Cracking, Continuous Catalytic Reformation, Ethylene, Hydro-treatment of Diesel 1, Hydro-treatment of Diesel 2, Hidrocracking, Benzene Saturation, Izomerization, Propylene Separator and Purifyer, CHT Hydrogen (owned by BOC Chile S.A.), Retarded Coker, Hydro-treatment of Diesel (HDT) owned by Petropower Energía Limitada, Bío Bío Hydrogen, jointly owned with Sigdo Koppers S.A, Smooth Hydrocracking with gas oil (MHC), jointly with Técnicas Reunidas and Ferrostaal.

There are also treatment plants like those of Merox of kerosene, gasoline and liquefied gas, Sodium Sulfhydrate Plant, Sulfur Recovery, Gases Treatment, Acid Water Treatment, Greasy Waters Treatment, Desulfurizer of Diesel, supplies of refrigeration water, steam and electricity, tanks for storing crude oil, and intermediate and end products.

Other industrial installations are the oil pipelines for carrying finished products from the refinery to the city of San Fernando, which connects with the Sonacol pipeline (San Fernando -Maipú) and pumping stations at Bío Bío refinery, Chillán and Molina; oil pipelines between the refinery and San Vicente port terminal for carrying crude oil and finished products; internal pipes from the tank areas to the processing plants and from these to the intermediate and end product tanks; gas pipeline for the reception and delivery of liquefied gas; motor-pumps for sending products from the refinery to San Fernando and San Vicente; motor-pumps in San Vicente for shipments of products by sea and the reception of imported crudes; chemical laboratory; facilities and station for the Emergency Response Brigade operated by plant worker volunteers; specialized workshops to the maintenance and repairs for all the plants; electricity emergency equipment that works with diesel and natural gas and an interconnection system for natural gas to be used as fuel in boilers and ovens (steam generation).
