Exploration and Production (E&P)ENAP in Magallanes

ENAP carries out hydrocarbons exploration and production activities in Chile, mainly in the Twelfth Region of Magallanes where it has gas and oil production operations on the mainland, Tierra del Fuego island and the Straits of Magellan.

In recent years, ENAP has redoubled its efforts for discovering new gas deposits in Magallanes, achieving success in various blocks, particularly in Dorado-Riquelme, Intracampos and Arenal.

Through a series of Special Petroleum Exploration Contracts (CEOP), ENAP in 2008 began the joint exploration with the companies Pan American Energy LLC, Greymounth andc Apache in the blocks Coirón, Lenga and Caupolicán respectively.

In December 2010, the Company’s board approved a process of inviting international oil companies to become partners with ENAP in hydrocarbon exploration work in five areas located on Tierra del Fuego island in the 12th Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic.

This process will end with the selection by ENAP of the companies for which it will request the Chilean state to sign a CEOP for each of the areas offered. These areas relate to the following blocks: Isla Norte, Campanario, Flamenco, San Sebastián and Marazzi-Lago Mercedes.

The partnership with oil companies will enable the start of exploration in these areas through the acquisition of tridimensional seismic equipment and the drilling of new exploratory wells which, if successful, will permit a future increase in reserves and production from these areas.

For the transportation of hydrocarbons, ENAP uses a network of around 3,000 kilometers of oil and gas pipelines and processing plants at Posesión and Cabo Negro.
