Empresa Nacional del Petróleo is a company owned by the State of Chile, which commercial purpose is to explore, produce and commercialize hydrocarbons and their derivates. It carries out activities throughout the whole value chain in the oil industry, from hydrocarbons exploration to fuels commercialization, the latter under the Primax brand, which operates in Perú and Ecuador.
ENAP is organized into two Managements: Exploration and Production (E&P) and Refining and Commercialization (R&C). It has two subsidiaries: Enap Sipetrol S.A. and Enap Refinerías S.A.

This ENAP subsidiary was founded in 1990, with the purpose of developing hydrocarbons exploration and productions activities in foreign countries, taking advantage of their professional and technical teams, in the search of new business opportunities outside Chile. At present, this subsidiary carries out productive activities in Argentina, Ecuador and Egypt. Also, it has the control over the concession of an oil block (Mehr) in Iran. |
This ENAP subsidiary was founded in 2004, as a result of the merger of Concón and Petrox refining plants, located in the Fifth and Eighth Regions respectively. It has a distillation capacity of 220,000 barrels/day and it supplies over 80% of the fuels requirements in Chile. Enap Refinerías also exports a part of its production to Perú, Ecuador and Central America, with an outstanding quality of its fuels, which comply with the most demanding standards in the world. |
Both Lines of Business are present with their operations in the productive complex located at the Magallanes Region, where the Company exploits the only hydrocarbons ores with a commercial value discovered up to now in Chile. The Company’s main management sits at the Headquarters, in Santiago, Chile’s capital.
